Hi, I’m Tabi!
Begin in Gifu City below Mount Kinka, with a park, a distinctive Buddha and historic streets near the Nagara River. This guide covers the city rather than a tour of the entire prefecture.
This guide covers places within Gifu, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

Pause among trees and paths below Mount Kinka without climbing to the summit. The photograph dates from 2007 and may differ from today. Check official notices about trail restrictions during Gifu Castle renovation.
Getting there Check park-bound buses from JR or Meitetsu Gifu station
The temple’s large Buddha has a framework including wood and bamboo, finished with lacquer and gold leaf. Learn how it differs from a metal statue. The photograph shows the entrance; check arrangements for viewing the Buddha inside.
Getting there Approach from the Gifu-koen/Gifu-jo bus stop
Explore lattice-fronted townhouses and shops adapted from storehouses around Minatomachi, Tamaicho and Motohamacho. Notice the riverside trading heritage while respecting private properties and shop rules.
Getting there Check the approach from Nagarabashi bus stop
Ayu-gashi is a fish-shaped Gifu confection. Tamaiya’s Nobori-ayu wraps gyuhi in a cake-like shell; the shape does not make it a fish dish. Products vary by maker, so check ingredients and storage instructions.
Try Gifu Park → the Shohoji area, choosing one stop if preferred. Check a separate route toward Kawaramachi. The summit and mountain trails are outside this introductory walk.
