Hi, I’m Tabi!

Explore Ena’s old roads at Ōi-juku and its hilltop history at Iwamura Castle Ruins. These are separate districts, and the castle climb needs its own time and preparation.

This guide covers places within Ena, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

Two places to begin

Two different places: start with whichever interests you.

A first-visit stop

Ōi-juku

大井宿

Walk the former Nakasendō post-town streets in Ōichō using public roads. The March 2023 photograph shows wooden buildings and a street view. Building interiors are not all open to visitors; respect homes and passing traffic.

Getting there
Check the current approach and return transport on the map.

02

A first-visit stop

Iwamura Castle Ruins

岩村城跡

Visit the surviving hilltop stone walls and castle site. Prepare for a separate climb on steep stone paths and check weather and access. An illustration is used because the candidate photograph had conflicting municipality information.

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

Gohei-mochi is a regional food highlighted by Ena’s tourism association. Shapes and sauces vary by shop. Sauces may contain nuts and other ingredients, so ask before ordering if you have allergies.

Check actual distances and travel times on the map. This suggested walk is separate from your app movement record.

Before you set off

  • Check entry arrangements and return transport first.
  • Choose one stop to suit weather, slopes and local restrictions.
