Hi, I’m Tabi!

Nishigo is a Fukushima village with distinct areas around Shin-Shirakawa Station and western gorges and highlands. Arrange one destination’s access first; a mountain outing requires preparation.

This guide covers places within Nishigo, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

A first-visit stop

Yukiwari Gorge and Bridge

雪割渓谷・雪割橋

View the Abukuma River gorge. A new bridge was completed in 2021; the 2008 gorge photo does not depict the current bridge. Check road, viewing-area and trail restrictions and weather.

Getting there
Check the current approach and return transport on the map.

02

A first-visit stop

Kenkatsura Tree

剣桂

A natural landmark associated with a large katsura tree and local legends. Follow public approaches and site guidance, and avoid damaging the protected tree’s surroundings. Check its access separately from the gorge.

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

The village tourism association introduces handmade soba and sobagaki at local eateries. Sobagaki is prepared by heating and kneading buckwheat flour. Check buckwheat, noodle and broth ingredients and allergies; the guide does not guarantee current menus or operation.

03 · YOUR FIRST WALK

Keep your first walk simple

Try the first destination’s permitted entrance → public areas. Choose the other stop after checking separate transport and access.

Check the walking route

Check actual distances and travel times on the map. This suggested walk is separate from your app movement record.

Before you set off

  • Check entry arrangements and return transport first.
  • Choose one stop to suit weather, slopes and local restrictions.
  • Respect private areas and photography rules; check food ingredients locally.
