Hi, I’m Tabi!
Tsuruga is a Fukui port city of shrines, brick warehouses and a pine-lined coast. Start around the station and Kehi Jingu, planning separate visits to the harbor and Matsubara.
This guide covers places within Tsuruga, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

Kehi Jingu Shrine
氣比神宮
A shrine linked with Tsuruga’s history, known for its large red torii. The photo shows stone lanterns within the grounds in 2007. Respect worship routes and photography guidance.
Getting there Check buses toward Kehi Jingu from JR Tsuruga station
Former oil-storage warehouses now used as a visitor attraction. The 2007 photo predates its 2015 reopening. Check separate arrangements for the current diorama museum and restaurants.
Getting there Check buses toward the red brick warehouse from JR Tsuruga station
A pine forest and sandy coast. Use marked woodland paths and check seasonal beach operations and local restrictions. This is a separate area from the central shrine and harbor warehouses.
Getting there Check the Matsubara bus line from Tsuruga station and your return service
Sauce katsudon features sauce-coated fried pork over rice and appears in Tsuruga’s official food guide. Check the menu and allergens, as ingredients and portions vary by shop.
Try Tsuruga station → city streets around Kehi Jingu. Save the warehouses or coast for a separate bus outing, and do not assume the beach is open for swimming year-round.
