Hi, I’m Tabi!
Mine in Yamaguchi offers limestone grasslands and caves. Start around Akiyoshidai’s observation deck or Akiyoshido’s tourist section, checking the route between them.
This guide covers places within Mine, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

Akiyoshidai
秋吉台
A karst plateau where limestone rises through grassland. Enjoy the observation deck and marked paths. This May 2016 photo shows a seasonal landscape.
Getting there Check buses from JR Shin-Yamaguchi toward Akiyoshido and onward access to the plateau
Visit the tourist section of a limestone cave. The photo shows its entrance in 2016. Check admission and entry-point information, watch slippery surfaces, and distinguish adventure routes from regular visits.
Getting there Approach the visitor entrance from the Akiyoshido bus stop
A visitor-information and rest center beside the observation deck. Learn about the plateau, with a café and rest space; guided tours have separate booking arrangements.
Getting there Find the center beside Akiyoshidai’s observation deck
Shuho pears are a local specialty. Check seasonal availability of fruit and processed goods. The official guide says pear picking is not held in 2026, and the listed late-summer sales dates have ended.
Try the observation deck → marked paths around Karstar. Add the cave after checking admission and transport, and stay out of unmarked grassland routes and closed caves.
