Explore latticed facades and the angled arrangement of buildings in this Kishu lacquerware district. People still live and work here; do not enter workshops or homes without permission.
Getting there Approach Kawabata-dori from JR Kuroe Station.
This shrine contains the Fujishiro-oji site associated with Kumano pilgrimage. Explore permitted worship areas among the trees and respect ceremonies. Plan it separately from a longer mountain-route walk.
Getting there Approach the shrine from JR Kainan Station.
The prefecture’s food-culture archive associates shirasu dishes with Kainan’s Hiyamizu area. Look for prepared small fish, often boiled or dried. Check preparation and ingredients locally; same-day availability is not promised.
Try the first destination’s permitted entrance → public areas. Choose the other stop after checking separate transport and access. Choose your departure point on the map.
