Hi, I’m Tabi!

Koganei in Tokyo combines historic architecture, art and spring-fed escarpment gardens. Plan the northern architectural museum separately from southern gardens and art spaces.

This guide covers places within Koganei, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

01 · EXPLORE

Three places to begin

Three places with different atmospheres. Start with the one that appeals to you instead of visiting them all.

Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum

江戸東京たてもの園

An open-air museum of historic Tokyo buildings relocated and restored here. The photograph shows its entrance in 2013, not the entire collection. Check admission; the wider Koganei Park extends beyond this city.

A first-visit stop

Sorosenen Garden

滄浪泉園

A former villa garden shaped by the escarpment and springs. Stay on designated paths and protect plants and wildlife. Eating, drinking and smoking are prohibited inside for conservation.

Getting there

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

The city certifies outlets using Edo-Tokyo vegetables. Traditional-vegetable dishes depend on harvests; check availability directly rather than treating an older list’s hours as current.

03 · YOUR FIRST WALK

Keep your first walk simple

Choose Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum or Hakenomori Art Museum first. Check open areas and return transport, without forcing separated destinations into a single walk.

Check the walking route

Check actual distances and travel times on the map. This suggested walk is separate from your app movement record.

Before you set off

  • Check current entry rules, opening information and return transport.
  • Choose an outing suited to steps, slopes and weather.
  • Respect worship spaces and photography rules; check food ingredients at the shop.
