Hi, I’m Tabi!
Ichihara stretches from urban areas by Tokyo Bay to inland lake and rural scenery. This guide focuses on Lake Takataki, which may be far from your check-in; plan stations and return transport first.
This guide covers places within Ichihara, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

A first-visit stop
Ichihara Lakeside Museum
市原湖畔美術館
A museum overlooking Lake Takataki, combining exhibitions with surrounding nature. The 2014 photo shows its exterior, not current displays. The operator announced a planned reopening on October 10, 2026; check the latest opening and exhibition notices before visiting.
Getting there Check access from the Kominato Railway’s Takataki station area
A shrine near the lake with a wooded worship setting. Its forest is listed among Chiba’s cultural properties. Check current event and access information and respect worshippers.
Getting there Check the shrine approach from the Takataki station area
A reservoir formed by Takataki Dam, with water and greenery to view from accessible lakeside areas. Choose one section instead of walking the entire lake; check weather, water levels and access rather than assuming fishing or water play is permitted.
Getting there Use local guidance to identify accessible lakeside routes
Chiba’s agricultural guide associates Ichihara’s Anesaki area with fig cultivation. Fresh fruit or products can be a small souvenir option, but season, variety and sellers vary; do not assume they are sold everywhere around the lake.
Try Takataki station → the museum area, checking return trains and opening notices first. Rest at an accessible lakeside spot without trying to cover the entire lake and shrine in one visit.
