Mount Nokogiri and Nihonji Temple
日本寺
The temple area on the mountain’s southern side has stone-carved Buddhist figures and mountain scenery. The mountain also spans Futtsu; this guide covers Nihonji on the Kyonan side. The photo shows its entrance in 2023. Check steps, admission and current access.
Getting there Check the Nihonji-side entrance and currently open routes
A former elementary school repurposed as a visitor and community facility. It is a roadside station with information and shops, rather than an operating classroom site. The photo shows its exterior in 2024; check individual shop arrangements.
Getting there Check transport to the facility in Hota
Walking areas surround an agricultural reservoir in Kyonan’s hills, with seasonal cherry blossoms and narcissus. This is distinct from the same-named dam in Shizuoka. Follow marked waterside paths.
Getting there Check separate transport to the park in Kyonan’s Okuzure area
Chiba’s official tourism guide describes namero as a Boso dish of finely chopped fish, miso and aromatics. When choosing seafood in Kyonan, ask about ingredients, preparation and current availability.
Try Hota station → Michinoeki Hota Elementary School for visitor information and a pause. Check mountain access before visiting Nihonji, planning separate transport for the mountain and dam.
