A first-visit stop

Watarase Retarding Basin

渡良瀬遊水地

An area combining flood-control functions with wetland habitats. Use official guidance to choose an accessible section on the Fujioka side. The photograph shows the first regulating basin in 2012; the whole reservoir area is not within this region.

Getting there
Check the current approach and return transport on the map.

02

A first-visit stop

Heartland Castle

ハートランド城

A Fujioka visitor-information facility introducing the reservoir and local history. Its castle name does not mean it is an ancient castle ruin. Check current opening arrangements before visiting.

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

Tochigi City’s Fujioka booklet introduces locally grown Beniazuma sweet potatoes. Check origin labels when choosing sweet potatoes and local produce. Confirm harvest activities and processed-product availability before visiting.
