Hi, I’m Tabi!

Explore Suga Shrine’s mythic traditions and ironmaking history at Sugaya Tatara Sannai in Unnan. The two are in different districts, so check transport separately as you discover both worship and industrial heritage.

This guide covers places within Unnan, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

Two places to begin

Two different places: start with whichever interests you.

A first-visit stop

Suga Shrine

須我神社

The image shows the shrine front and steps in Suga, Daito-cho. Read accounts of Susanoo and the origins of waka as mythic traditions. Respect worshippers and remain in permitted grounds.

Getting there
Check the current approach and return transport on the map.

02

A first-visit stop

Sugaya Tatara Sannai

菅谷たたら山内

This heritage site preserves buildings and settlement features associated with tatara ironmaking. The photograph above shows Suga Shrine, not this site. It is not a factory offering continuous production viewing; check opening and interpretation arrangements.

Getting there
Check the current approach and return transport on the map.

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

The tourism association highlights charcoal-grilled mackerel in Kisuki and recommends advance reservations. Do not assume daily availability; ask about reservations, bones and seasonings. Choose another dish if you have a mackerel allergy.

03 · YOUR FIRST WALK

Keep your first walk simple

Try the first destination’s permitted entrance → public areas. Choose the other stop after checking separate transport and access.

Check the walking route

Check actual distances and travel times on the map. This suggested walk is separate from your app movement record.

Before you set off

  • Check entry arrangements and return transport first.
  • Choose one stop to suit weather, slopes and local restrictions.
  • Respect private areas and photography rules; check food ingredients locally.
