Hi, I’m Tabi!
Follow the rainmaking tradition of the Suneori area in Tsurugashima. Shirahige Shrine and Kandachigaike Pond are linked by this tradition; the giant dragon procession is an occasional event, not a permanent display.
This guide covers places within Tsurugashima, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

This shrine is where the dragon is made and the rainmaking procession begins. The large image on this page shows the pond, not the shrine. Distinguish an ordinary visit from an event visit and check current city notices.

The photograph shows the water and wooded edge of the pond where the procession ends. On an ordinary visit, stay on public paths around it. Event participation and entering the water are separate from everyday sightseeing.

The local JA magazine features saffron photographed in Tsurugashima and describes its use in dishes such as paella. If seeking it as an ingredient, check its origin and current stockists; this does not promise a permanently available restaurant dish.
