Hi, I’m Tabi!
Yao offers temple-town history and local produce. Begin with Kenshoji and Kyuhoji’s streets, planning separate transport for Daishoshogunji.
This guide covers places within Yao, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

A first-visit stop
Kenshoji Temple
顕証寺
A temple connected with the history of Kyuhoji’s temple town. The photo shows its main hall in 2007. The operator describes a major restoration project, so check current visitor areas.
Getting there Check the approach from JR Kyuhoji or Kintetsu Kyuhojiguchi station
A temple linked with traditions about Prince Shotoku. Read those traditions as legends rather than confirmed accounts of events. The photo shows the gate in 2008; respect current worship and visitor rules.
Getting there Check transport to the temple in Taishido 3-chome
Explore streets and history of a town that grew around its temple. Look around from public streets after Kenshoji; respect residents’ homes and gardens.
Getting there Follow public streets around the Kyuhoji temple
Osaka’s official specialty guide lists Yao as a major edamame-growing area. These young soybeans are seasonal produce; check origin and availability rather than assuming fresh local beans are always sold in autumn.
Try a loop around Kenshoji and Kyuhoji’s public streets. Check restoration signs and keep routes clear for residents and vehicles; the other temple can be a separate outing.
