Hi, I’m Tabi!

North of Osaka, Toyonaka offers parkland, historic houses and a university museum. Start around Hattori Ryokuchi rather than combining the park, airport and campus in one walk.

This guide covers places within Toyonaka, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

01 · EXPLORE

Three places to begin

Three places with different atmospheres. Start with the one that appeals to you instead of visiting them all.

A first-visit stop

Hattori Ryokuchi Park

服部緑地

A spacious park of trees, ponds and activity areas. Choose one path rather than covering everything; the park crosses neighboring city boundaries, and this guide focuses on Toyonaka.

Open-Air Museum of Old Japanese Farm Houses

日本民家集落博物館

An open-air museum of traditional houses relocated from across Japan. Explore how building forms and tools reflect local lives; the houses were not all originally from Toyonaka.

Getting there
Check the museum entrance within Hattori Ryokuchi

03

A first-visit stop

Osaka University Museum

大阪大学総合学術博物館

A university museum where you can learn about the Machikane crocodile fossil found on the Toyonaka campus. Check current exhibitions, closures and separate campus transport.

Getting there

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

The city’s official goods guide lists Machikane-kun monaka, a sweet with filling placed in crisp wafer shells. It is one local character-themed gift; check ingredients and availability.

03 · YOUR FIRST WALK

Keep your first walk simple

Try Ryokuchi-koen station → Hattori Ryokuchi → the farmhouse museum entrance area. Check museum entry separately and save the university museum for another outing.

Check the walking route

Check actual distances and travel times on the map. This suggested walk is separate from your app movement record.

Before you set off

  • Check current entry rules, opening information and return transport.
  • Choose an outing suited to steps, slopes and weather.
  • Respect worship spaces and photography rules; check food ingredients at the shop.
