Hi, I’m Tabi!

Higashi is a village on northern Okinawa Island’s east coast. Explore Gesashi Bay’s mangroves and nature experiences at Sonmin-no-mori Eco Park. The azalea garden is closed to general visitors outside the festival period; distinguish it from Eco Park.

This guide covers places within Higashi, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

A first-visit stop

Gesashi Bay Mangrove Forest

慶佐次湾のヒルギ林

A natural waterside mangrove landscape. This photo dates to October 2023, unlike the 2009 cover image. Protect the environment from permitted observation areas; check reservations, weather and tides separately for canoe activities.

02

A first-visit stop

Sonmin-no-mori Tsutsuji Eco Park

村民の森つつじエコパーク

An eco park with accommodation and nature experiences. It is distinct from the azalea garden, which is closed to general visitors outside festival periods. Check activity reservations, current access areas and transport; do not assume camping facilities can be used without booking.

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

The village introduces pineapple as a specialty. Check varieties, ingredients and origins for fresh fruit and processed products. Harvest periods and stock vary; not every pineapple product is made from Higashi-grown fruit.
