Hi, I’m Tabi!
Visit Tarama Island’s historic lookout and a fukugi-lined approach. The lead photograph is a 2006 aerial view of Tarama and Minna behind it, not a photograph of either visitor facility. Check transport, weather and your return connection.
This guide covers places within Tarama, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

Yaeyama Tomidai Lookout
八重山遠見台
An area associated with a historic lookout used to watch passing ships. This is Yaeyama Tomidai on Tarama, not a viewpoint on Ishigaki. Check present access to the park and observation facilities; do not climb archaeological stonework or cross barriers.
Getting there Check the current approach and return transport on the map.
Fukugi trees line the approach to this sacred site, photographed in May 2018. Observe the trees from the publicly accessible approach and follow ritual, entry and photography instructions. Do not enter the sanctuary or forest without permission.
Getting there Check the current approach and return transport on the map.
Tarama brown sugar is a village specialty made by boiling down sugarcane juice. No health benefit is promised here. For sweets made with it, check ingredients, allergens and storage instructions.
