Hi, I’m Tabi!

Taketomi Town spans several islands; this guide focuses on two shores on Taketomi Island. Check ferries, your return sailing and island transport, and respect private property and sacred spaces.

This guide covers places within Taketomi, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

01 · EXPLORE

Two places to begin

Two different places: start with whichever interests you.

A first-visit stop

Kondoi Beach

コンドイ浜

A shore of white sand and shallow water, photographed in 2009. There are no lifeguards; calm-looking water does not guarantee safe swimming. Check wind, currents and local notices, and leave sand and wildlife in place.

Getting there
Check the current approach and return transport on the map.

02

A first-visit stop

Kaiji Beach

カイジ浜

Next to Kondoi, this shore is also known for star-shaped sand. Official information warns of fast currents, so this is not a route into the water. Explore permitted shoreline and shade quietly, observing star sand without taking it away.

Getting there
Check the current approach and return transport on the map.

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

Consider Yaeyama soba on the island. Tourism information lists a soba shop on Taketomi Island, but this guide does not guarantee current opening or prices. Check broth, toppings and allergens such as wheat.

03 · YOUR FIRST WALK

Keep your first walk simple

Try the first destination’s permitted entrance → public areas. Choose the other stop after checking separate transport and access.

Check the walking route

Check actual distances and travel times on the map. This suggested walk is separate from your app movement record.

Before you set off

  • Check entry arrangements and return transport first.
  • Choose one stop to suit weather, slopes and local restrictions.
  • Respect private areas and photography rules; check food ingredients locally.
