Hi, I’m Tabi!
Tohoku Town is a municipality near Lake Ogawara in Aomori. It is distinct from the whole Tohoku region and the Tohoku History Museum in Miyagi. Start with the roadside station for local products or the town’s history and folklore museum.
This guide covers places within Tohoku Town, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

Roadside Station Ogawarako
道の駅おがわら湖「湖遊館」
A starting point near the lake for local products, meals and a break. The photo shows its building in 2020, rather than the lakeside park. Seasonal hours apply from October to March; check restaurant and shop schedules separately.

This museum explores Lake Ogawara’s nature and the town’s history and daily life, including a reconstructed house and local artifacts. Check Tuesday, holiday and other closures, and distinguish it from the history museum in Miyagi.

Official guidance introduces Lake Ogawara’s shijimi clams, icefish and smelt. Check the roadside station’s current menu and origin labels when considering clam dishes. A lake-origin label does not mean every catch came from within Tohoku Town; supply also changes with the season.
