Hi, I’m Tabi!

Ajigasawa is a coastal and mountainous town in Aomori. Explore Tanesato Castle’s history and coastal food as separate stops. Shirakami no Mori Yuzando is closed following heavy rain damage in 2026 and is excluded from this itinerary.

This guide covers places within Ajigasawa, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

01 · EXPLORE

Two places to begin

Two different places: start with whichever interests you.

A first-visit stop

Tanesato Castle Site and Mitsunobu Museum

種里城跡・光信公の館

The castle-site museum introduces the beginnings of Tsugaru history. Its photo shows the museum exterior in 2009. Published guidance lists opening on Fridays, weekends and holidays from May to October, with winter closure from November to April. Check access to the grounds and museum separately.

Getting there
Check the current approach and return transport on the map.

02

A first-visit stop

Umi-no-Eki Wando

海の駅わんど

A coastal facility for browsing farm produce, seafood and souvenirs. Upstairs is a sumo museum introducing wrestlers associated with the town. Opening and viewing times differ between floors, so check each facility before departure.

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

Official tourism guidance introduces hirame zuke-don, marinated flounder served over rice. Sauces, accompaniments and availability vary by shop. Check the current menu, fish origin and allergens rather than assuming every ingredient is produced in the town.

Check the walking route

Check actual distances and travel times on the map. This suggested walk is separate from your app movement record.

Before you set off

  • Check entry arrangements and return transport first.
  • Choose one stop to suit weather, slopes and local restrictions.
  • Respect private areas and photography rules; check food ingredients locally.
