Hi, I’m Tabi!

Agano is a city in Niigata, with Lake Hyoko and a reconstructed historic administrative building. It is distinct from Aga Town and does not encompass the entire Agano River basin.

This guide covers places within Agano, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

01 · EXPLORE

Two places to begin

Two different places: start with whichever interests you.

Lake Hyoko in May 202001

A first-visit stop

Hyoko Waterfowl Park

瓢湖水きん公園

This park includes Lake Hyoko, neighboring ponds and paths. The photo dates to May 2020 and does not show the current bird population or promise winter swan flocks. Check seasonal arrival reports and observe posted guidance.

Getting there
Check the current approach and return transport on the map.

Suibara Daikansho exterior in 202002

A first-visit stop

Suibara Daikansho

水原代官所

A reconstruction of an Edo-period administrative office for shogunate lands. The current building was reconstructed in 1995, rather than surviving intact from the original period. Check Monday closures and current admission conditions.

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

The Yasuda district of Agano is associated with yogurt products. The tourism association introduces Y&Y Garden as a place to check available products. Read origin labels rather than assuming every ingredient is locally produced, and check milk allergens.

03 · YOUR FIRST WALK

Keep your first walk simple

Try the first destination’s permitted entrance → public areas. Choose the other stop after checking separate transport and access.

Check the walking route

Check actual distances and travel times on the map. This suggested walk is separate from your app movement record.

Before you set off

  • Check entry arrangements and return transport first.
  • Choose one stop to suit weather, slopes and local restrictions.
  • Respect private areas and photography rules; check food ingredients locally.
