Hi, I’m Tabi!

This guide covers Niigata City. Begin with Hakusan Park and Enkikan in Chuo Ward for waterside paths and historic architecture. Plan the Old Saito Villa separately after checking construction notices.

This guide covers places within Niigata, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

Poppoyaki food example photographed in 2005
An example of the regional brown-sugar sweet, not a shop recommendation or current menu or price.

Poppoyaki are long, brown-sugar-flavored steamed-bread sweets featured by Niigata City’s official tourism bureau. They are associated with origins in Shibata, rather than Niigata City. The 2005 photo is a food example, not a shop endorsement or a promise of availability or prices.

03 · YOUR FIRST WALK

Keep your first walk simple

Try public park paths → Enkikan inside the park → return to the entrance. Check which rooms are available. Confirm routes from JR Hakusan station or Shiyakusho-mae bus stop and your return journey.

Check the walking route

Check actual distances and travel times on the map. This suggested walk is separate from your app movement record.

Before you set off

  • Check current entry rules, opening information and return transport.
  • Choose an outing suited to steps, slopes and weather.
  • Respect worship spaces and photography rules; check food ingredients at the shop.
