Hi, I’m Tabi!

Nara offers temples, shrines and parkland from an ancient capital. Start around Nara Park; attractions elsewhere in the prefecture are separate destinations.

This guide covers places within Nara, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

01 · EXPLORE

Three places to begin

Three places with different atmospheres. Start with the one that appeals to you instead of visiting them all.

Trees and lawns in Nara Park01

A first-visit stop

Nara Park

奈良公園

A broad park area of grass, trees and deer. Deer are wild animals: avoid touching or chasing them. The photograph shows trees and lawns rather than deer.

Getting there
Check entrances and return transport on the map

02

A first-visit stop

Todaiji Temple

東大寺

Known for its Great Buddha and wooden Great Buddha Hall. Park access and admission to the hall are separate; check current temple guidance.

03

A first-visit stop

Kasugataisha Shrine

春日大社

A shrine with wooded approaches, stone lanterns and vermilion buildings. Visit quietly and check separate arrangements for special worship areas and the museum.

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

Kakinoha sushi is wrapped in persimmon leaves. Official tourism information connects Nara-city shops with its southern Nara origins, including Gojo. Check fish and other ingredients and storage guidance; treat the leaf as wrapping.

03 · YOUR FIRST WALK

Keep your first walk simple

Try Kintetsu Nara station → the Nara Park area, adding Todaiji or Kasugataisha. Check admissions and return transport instead of covering every temple.

Check the walking route

Check actual distances and travel times on the map. This suggested walk is separate from your app movement record.

Before you set off

  • Check current entry rules, opening information and return transport.
  • Choose an outing suited to steps, slopes and weather.
  • Respect worship spaces and photography rules; check food ingredients at the shop.
