Hi, I’m Tabi!

In Hirado, Nagasaki, pair the castle area with the history of its trading port. Both stops lie within the Hirado area represented by the original app GID.

This guide covers places within Hirado, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

01 · EXPLORE

Two places to begin

Two different places: start with whichever interests you.

01

A first-visit stop

Hirado Castle

平戸城

The castle overlooks Hirado Strait. Its present keep is a 1962 reconstruction rather than an unchanged historic original. The keep is a paid area; check admission conditions and the visitor route.

Getting there
Check the current approach and return transport on the map.

A first-visit stop

Hirado Dutch Trading Post

平戸オランダ商館

This exhibition facility presents the history of overseas trade. The 1639 warehouse was reconstructed in 2011; the photograph shows that rebuilt exterior in 2012. Check exhibition photography rules and closure notices separately.

Getting there

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

Look for traditional sweets such as casdoce and gobomochi, introduced by the local tourism association. Check each product’s ingredients and preparation, and ask shops about today’s selection.

03 · YOUR FIRST WALK

Keep your first walk simple

Try the first destination’s permitted entrance → public areas. Choose the other stop after checking separate transport and access.

Check the walking route

Check actual distances and travel times on the map. This suggested walk is separate from your app movement record.

Before you set off

  • Check entry arrangements and return transport first.
  • Choose one stop to suit weather, slopes and local restrictions.
  • Respect private areas and photography rules; check food ingredients locally.
