Hi, I’m Tabi!

Visit the old street at Unno-juku and Myojin Pond in Geijutsu-mura Park. This pond is in Tomi, distinct from the pond of the same name at Kamikochi.

This guide covers places within Tomi, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

01 · EXPLORE

Two places to begin

Two different places: start with whichever interests you.

The historic street at Unno-juku in September 200901

A first-visit stop

Unno-juku

海野宿

Traditional houses and a water channel line this former post town on the Hokkoku road. The street photograph is from September 2009. People still live here: stay on open routes, and check separate access and hours for interiors or museums.

Getting there
Check the current approach and return transport on the map.

Myojin Pond in Tomi in May 201902

A first-visit stop

Geijutsu-mura Park · Myojin Pond

芸術むら公園・明神池

Enjoy water and mountain views around the pond. The photograph dates from May 2019. Park walks, the art gallery, hot spring and camping facilities have different arrangements; check each separately and stay out of the pond.

Getting there
Check the current approach and return transport on the map.

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

Look for Tomi walnuts and walnut sweets or soba dishes. The tourism association lists walnuts as a local speciality. Check walnuts, other nuts, buckwheat, wheat and product labels; do not assume every product uses only locally grown walnuts.

03 · YOUR FIRST WALK

Keep your first walk simple

Try the first destination’s permitted entrance → public areas. Choose the other stop after checking separate transport and access.

Check directions

Check actual distances and travel times on the map. This suggested walk is separate from your app movement record.

Before you set off

  • Check entry arrangements and return transport first.
  • Choose one stop to suit weather, slopes and local restrictions.
  • Respect private areas and photography rules; check food ingredients locally.
