Hi, I’m Tabi!

Meet Omi’s landscape and history at Lake Hijiri and Hijiri Museum. Check accessible shore areas and museum opening arrangements before visiting.

This guide covers places within Omi, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

01 · EXPLORE

Two places to begin

Two different places: start with whichever interests you.

Lake Hijiri in October 200901

A first-visit stop

Lake Hijiri

聖湖

Enjoy the shores of Lake Hijiri in the highlands. The October 2009 photograph does not indicate current autumn colours. Check seasonal rules for boats and fishing, and never enter an apparently frozen lake without authorised access.

Getting there
Check the current approach and return transport on the map.

A first-visit stop

Omi Village Hijiri Museum

麻績村立聖博物館

On the eastern side of Lake Hijiri, explore materials on village history and the Zenkoji road. The image description dates this photograph to October 2010. Check current opening days and access to indoor and outdoor exhibits.

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

Omi’s steamed oyaki are known for a fluffy texture. Fillings such as bean paste, nozawana greens or miso aubergine vary by shop and household. Check the day’s selection and ingredients, including wheat and soy; do not assume every variety is vegetarian.

03 · YOUR FIRST WALK

Keep your first walk simple

Try the first destination’s permitted entrance → public areas. Choose the other stop after checking separate transport and access.

Check the walking route

Check actual distances and travel times on the map. This suggested walk is separate from your app movement record.

Before you set off

  • Check entry arrangements and return transport first.
  • Choose one stop to suit weather, slopes and local restrictions.
  • Respect private areas and photography rules; check food ingredients locally.
