Hi, I’m Tabi!

Explore the former town of Kitago, now part of Nichinan. Choose a mountain-side hot spring or a forested valley within the former municipal area.

This guide covers the former Kitago town area, merged into Nichinan in 2009, rather than all of Nichinan or places immediately beside your check-in.

Two places to begin

Two different places: start with whichever interests you.

A first-visit stop

Marushinso

べっぴんの湯 丸新荘

Listed by the tourism association as a lodging and bathing facility in Kitago Onsen. The photograph shows its exterior in 2024. Day bathing, meals and overnight stays may have different conditions, with irregular closures. Confirm current admission and booking arrangements directly.

Getting there
Check the current approach and return transport on the map.

02

A first-visit stop

Inohae Valley

猪八重渓谷

A valley of evergreen broadleaf forest and waterfalls. Treat it as a separate outing requiring transport and preparation for forest paths, rather than a flat walk beside the bathing facility. After rain, watch for slippery surfaces and high water. Check open sections and choose a manageable turnaround point.

Getting there

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

A shop at Michi-no-Eki Kitago features locally grown strawberries. Fresh-fruit sales, desserts and picking experiences can have different seasons and conditions. Check current products, ingredients such as dairy or wheat, and storage requirements.

03 · YOUR FIRST WALK

Keep your first walk simple

Try the first destination’s permitted entrance → public areas. Choose the other stop after checking separate transport and access.

Check the walking route

Check actual distances and travel times on the map. This suggested walk is separate from your app movement record.

Before you set off

  • Check entry arrangements and return transport first.
  • Choose one stop to suit weather, slopes and local restrictions.
  • Respect private areas and photography rules; check food ingredients locally.
