Hi, I’m Tabi!
Explore a gorge and volcanic lake in the Naruko area of Ōsaki, Miyagi. Plan transport between them separately; autumn leaves and lake colors in old photographs do not establish today’s scenery.
This guide covers places within Ōsaki, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

Naruko Gorge
鳴子峡
Known for its deep valley and forest, shown here in October 2015. The gorge paths currently allow only limited out-and-back sections from either entrance; do not plan a through-walk. Check weather closures and autumn parking charges.

A strongly acidic volcanic lake, photographed in November 2008. Its color changes with the weather. Do not enter or drink the water; use public lakeside paths. It normally closes from late November to late April, so check current access notices.

The city introduces shimi-dōfu, tofu preserved using winter cold, among its local foods. Check soy ingredients and preparation and storage instructions. Products from the wider city are not necessarily stocked in every Naruko shop.
