Hi, I’m Tabi!

Explore storehouse streets and local products in this Miyagi merchant town. The cover records the town office in 2011; it does not depict the historic streets or roadside station described below.

This guide covers places within Murata, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

01 · EXPLORE

Two places to begin

Two different places: start with whichever interests you.

01

A first-visit stop

Murata Storehouse Streets

蔵の町並み

Storehouses and gates recall merchants who traded safflower and indigo. The preserved district is also a place where people live and work. View exteriors from public streets and check each building’s rules for interior visits and photography.

Getting there
Check the current approach and return transport on the map.

02

A first-visit stop

Michi-no-Eki Murata

道の駅 村田

This roadside station introduces local produce and broad-bean products. It is separate from the storehouse streets, so plan transport and your return journey. Check each shop’s opening and menu and watch for vehicles in the car park.

Getting there
Check the current approach and return transport on the map.

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

The town introduces noodles, manjū and other products made with broad beans. Check harvest timing for fresh beans and ingredient labels for broad beans, rice flour and wheat in processed foods. Historical product listings do not guarantee current stock.

Check actual distances and travel times on the map. This suggested walk is separate from your app movement record.

Before you set off

  • Check entry arrangements and return transport first.
  • Choose one stop to suit weather, slopes and local restrictions.
