Hi, I’m Tabi!

Toba in Mie is known for its harbor, islands and pearl culture. Check approaches from JR and Kintetsu Toba Station to the two city stops and your return. Island and Uramura food outings need separate boat or bus and seasonal plans.

This guide covers places within Toba, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

Two places to begin

Two different places: start with whichever interests you.

Sakate Island and Toba Bay from Toba Castle Ruins in January 201601

A first-visit stop

Toba Castle Ruins

鳥羽城跡

A hillside site recalling a former sea castle. The January 2016 photo looks from the ruins toward Sakate Island and the bay, with the aquarium and Pearl Island in front. It is not a castle-interior view; allow for hills and steps.

Getting there
Check the current approach and return transport on the map.

02

A first-visit stop

Mikimoto Pearl Island

ミキモト真珠島

A paid visitor facility exploring cultured-pearl history. Ama demonstrations commemorate the divers who supported pearl cultivation, rather than depicting current commercial operations. Check admission, demonstration schedules and weather.

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

Uramura oysters are cultivated in Onoura Bay in Toba’s Uramura district. Harvests and shops depend on season and conditions, so do not assume current availability. Check reservations, preparation and shellfish allergens.

03 · YOUR FIRST WALK

Keep your first walk simple

Try the public ruins entrance → a bay viewpoint. Check slopes and restrictions; choose Pearl Island separately according to its admission arrangements.

Check the walking route

Check actual distances and travel times on the map. This suggested walk is separate from your app movement record.

Before you set off

  • Check entry arrangements and return transport first.
  • Choose one stop to suit weather, slopes and local restrictions.
  • Respect private areas and photography rules; check food ingredients locally.
