Hi, I’m Tabi!

Begin in Matsusaka, Mie, with castle ruins and former guards’ homes. Add the museum according to its opening calendar, distinguishing visitor spaces from homes.

This guide covers places within Matsusaka, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

01 · EXPLORE

Three places to begin

Three places with different atmospheres. Start with the one that appeals to you instead of visiting them all.

A first-visit stop

Matsusaka Castle Ruins

松坂城跡

Explore castle stonework and former defensive layouts. The 2017 photo shows the site of the keep platform, not a surviving keep. Take steps and stone paths at your own pace.

A first-visit stop

Gojoban Yashiki

御城番屋敷

Former castle guards’ row houses stand beside a stone-paved street. People still live here, so enter only public areas. The street photo dates from 2007.

03

A first-visit stop

Matsusaka City History and Folklore Museum

松阪市立歴史民俗資料館

A museum in a former library within the castle site, with local history and Ozu Yasujiro displays upstairs. Check the current calendar, including exhibition-change closures.

Getting there
Check the museum entrance at 1539 Tonomachi

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

The tourism association features Matsusaka beef. Check menu origin, ingredients and availability rather than assuming all beef served is Matsusaka beef; this is not a shop endorsement.

03 · YOUR FIRST WALK

Keep your first walk simple

Try the castle entrance → stonework → public streets at Gojoban Yashiki. Keep out of private spaces and check indoor museum access separately.

Check the walking route

Check actual distances and travel times on the map. This suggested walk is separate from your app movement record.

Before you set off

  • Check current entry rules, opening information and return transport.
  • Choose an outing suited to steps, slopes and weather.
  • Respect worship spaces and photography rules; check food ingredients at the shop.
