Hi, I’m Tabi!

Kameoka is a city in Kyoto Prefecture, separate from Kyoto City. Choose station-area history or an outlying temple rather than combining scattered destinations into one walk.

This guide covers places within Kameoka, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

01 · EXPLORE

Three places to begin

Three places with different atmospheres. Start with the one that appeals to you instead of visiting them all.

The main hall of Anaoji in 200701

A first-visit stop

Anaoji Temple

穴太寺

A temple associated with the Saigoku pilgrimage, shown with its main hall in 2007. Check garden and indoor admission separately from visiting the grounds.

Getting there
Check transport to Anao in Sogabecho

The torii of Izumo Daijingu in 201202

A first-visit stop

Izumo Daijingu Shrine

出雲大神宮

A shrine in Kameoka, Kyoto, distinct from Izumo Taisha in Shimane. The 2012 photo shows its torii; respect worship, restricted areas and photography guidance.

Getting there
Check transport to the Chitosecho area

03

A first-visit stop

Tamba Kameyama Castle Ruins

丹波亀山城跡

The old castle buildings are gone; stonework introduces its history. The site lies within Omoto headquarters, so check reception and permitted visiting areas rather than treating every part as a public park.

Getting there
Check the castle-site reception arrangements from Kameoka station

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

Official guidance introduces Kameoka as a producer of Kyoto vegetables such as Shogoin turnips and Kamo eggplants. Availability varies; check ingredients and provenance when exploring local produce.

03 · YOUR FIRST WALK

Keep your first walk simple

Try Kameoka station → the castle-site reception area, following permitted visiting arrangements. Plan Anaoji and Izumo Daijingu as separate outings with transport.

Check the walking route

Check actual distances and travel times on the map. This suggested walk is separate from your app movement record.

Before you set off

  • Check current entry rules, opening information and return transport.
  • Choose an outing suited to steps, slopes and weather.
  • Respect worship spaces and photography rules; check food ingredients at the shop.
