Tama River in Ide

The riverbanks are known for spring cherry blossoms and yamabuki flowers. The photograph shows February 2018, before flowering. Do not expect spring flowers in autumn, and stay off the riverbed during high water or rain.

Excavations at this former temple site uncovered roof tiles and building traces. The November 2016 photograph shows a marker and shelter. It is not an intact ancient temple: visit the public interpretation area and respect site boundaries.

Ide’s official guide introduces tofu, mackerel sushi and miso. Check fish and storage requirements for sushi, and soy ingredients in tofu and miso. Ask about current opening and stock rather than assuming a particular shop is serving them.
