Hi, I’m Tabi!
Nagaokakyo in Kyoto Prefecture offers shrines, a castle-site park and foothill temples. It is distinct from Nagaoka in Niigata. Choose a station-area stop first and plan separate transport to Komyoji.
This guide covers places within Nagaokakyō, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

Nagaoka Tenmangu Shrine
長岡天満宮
A shrine dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane with pond-side scenery. The photo dates from autumn 2013. Red azaleas are a spring feature rather than year-round blooms.
Getting there Check access from Hankyu Nagaoka-Tenjin station
A Jodo temple at Kyoto’s western foothills with worship paths and seasonal foliage. Official guidance asks individual visitors to use public transport.
Getting there Check buses toward the temple from JR Nagaokakyo or other stations
A landscaped castle-site park introducing stonework and castle history. Current buildings and restored features are not an intact medieval castle. The photo dates from 2018; check exhibition access separately.
Getting there Check the park approach from JR Nagaokakyo station
The tourism association features kyo-takenoko bamboo shoots. Check origin, ingredients and availability of seasonal dishes and processed products; an earlier spring campaign does not establish current events or prices.
Try JR Nagaokakyo station → Shoryuji Castle Park, distinguishing surviving traces from restored facilities and checking exhibition access. The shrine and Komyoji can be separate outings.
