Hi, I’m Tabi!

Miyazu is a coastal city in Kyoto. Begin around Amanohashidate station with the temple, bridge or pine paths, choosing a manageable area rather than covering every viewpoint.

This guide covers places within Miyazu, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

01 · EXPLORE

Three places to begin

Three places with different atmospheres. Start with the one that appeals to you instead of visiting them all.

A first-visit stop

Amanohashidate

天橋立

Explore a sandbar and pine woodland between waters. The 2011 photo was taken from Viewland on Mount Monju, not at shore level. Check separate transport and entry for the viewpoint.

Chionji temple gate in 202102

A first-visit stop

Chionji Temple

智恩寺

A temple associated with Monju, the bodhisattva of wisdom. The photo shows its gate in 2021. Respect worshippers and check areas open to visitors.

Getting there
Approach the temple entrance in Monju, Miyazu

03

A first-visit stop

Kaisenkyo Bridge

廻旋橋

A distinctive bridge that rotates for passing boats. It does not turn continuously; follow crossing restrictions and watch from permitted areas.

Getting there
Check the approach to the bridge on the Monju side near Chionji

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

The city’s official travel guide features Chie no mochi near Chionji: mochi topped with sweet red-bean paste. Check availability, ingredients and storage; its wisdom-related tradition is not a promise of benefits.

03 · YOUR FIRST WALK

Keep your first walk simple

Try Amanohashidate station → Chionji → marked paths toward Kaisenkyo Bridge. Follow bridge controls and choose a pine-path outing suited to your pace; check separate viewpoint entry and transport.

Check the walking route

Check actual distances and travel times on the map. This suggested walk is separate from your app movement record.

Before you set off

  • Check current entry rules, opening information and return transport.
  • Choose an outing suited to steps, slopes and weather.
  • Respect worship spaces and photography rules; check food ingredients at the shop.
