Hi, I’m Tabi!

Maizuru combines a port, brick warehouses and repatriation history. Check station names for its eastern and western districts. Start around the eastern warehouses and plan separate transport for the tower and museum.

This guide covers places within Maizuru, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

01 · EXPLORE

Three places to begin

Three places with different atmospheres. Start with the one that appeals to you instead of visiting them all.

Maizuru Red Brick Park

舞鶴赤れんがパーク

Historic brick warehouses now accommodate shops, exhibitions and events. The 2007 photograph predates some current uses. Check public areas and events for each building.

Goro Sky Tower

五老スカイタワー

An observation facility in Gorogatake Park overlooking Maizuru Bay and the city. The 2010 photo shows the tower exterior; views depend on weather. Check tower admission and hillside access separately.

Getting there
Plan separate transport to the hillside park above the city

03

A first-visit stop

Maizuru Repatriation Memorial Museum

舞鶴引揚記念館

A museum documenting postwar repatriation and Siberian internment. Choose it for a reflective visit to records and testimony, checking exhibitions and closures.

Getting there
Check buses and return services to the memorial park in Taira

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

The official tourism guide features nikujaga and naval-style curry. Nikujaga simmers meat, potatoes and other ingredients. Check ingredients and current menus without treating local origin stories as settled history.

03 · YOUR FIRST WALK

Keep your first walk simple

Try Higashi-Maizuru station → public paths at Red Brick Park. Check each interior separately, keep out of working port areas and plan the tower and museum as separate journeys.

Check the walking route

Check actual distances and travel times on the map. This suggested walk is separate from your app movement record.

Before you set off

  • Check current entry rules, opening information and return transport.
  • Choose an outing suited to steps, slopes and weather.
  • Respect worship spaces and photography rules; check food ingredients at the shop.
