This outer-rim viewpoint looks across the caldera toward Aso’s mountains. The rainy, foggy 2017 photograph is a reminder that distant views are not guaranteed. Keep to public paths and avoid edges in strong wind or poor visibility.

Grassland spreads across an old volcanic crater. The 2011 photograph shows the grassland and Mount Eboshi from the volcano museum side. Check road, parking and volcanic notices and respect fences and guidance around horses and grazing areas.

The tourism association highlights Akaushi beef as a regional food. Cuts and preparations, including rice bowls and grilled dishes, vary by shop. Ask each establishment about Aso-origin ingredients, current menus and reservations.
Resized, metadata removed and converted to WebP; display crops vary by screen. Adapted CC BY-SA photos retain the original license.
