Hi, I’m Tabi!

Sagara is a Kumamoto village of rural scenery and places of worship. Choose the forest or shrine first. The hero photo shows Fukami village scenery in 2015, rather than the shrines below. Check current transport, roads and return services.

This guide covers places within Sagara, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

01 · EXPLORE

Two places to begin

Two different places: start with whichever interests you.

01

A first-visit stop

Amemiya Shrine Forest

雨宮神社の森

A forest amid rice fields and Kawabe River scenery, with a shrine above. The village designated it a scenic site in May 2026. Check steps and currently permitted paths and respect worship areas.

Getting there
Check the current approach and return transport on the map.

02

A first-visit stop

Toshima Sugawara Shrine

十島菅原神社

A shrine to Sugawara no Michizane in Toshima, Yanase. Distinguish it from the nearby Toshima Kannon hall. Check official and on-site guidance for access to buildings and grounds.

Getting there
Check the current approach and return transport on the map.

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

The Agency for Cultural Affairs features Sagara tea as a local product. Check actual origin, ingredients and availability in tea or related products. These products are not all described as caffeine-free.

03 · YOUR FIRST WALK

Keep your first walk simple

Try the first destination’s permitted entrance → public areas. Choose the other stop after checking separate transport and access.

Check the walking route

Check actual distances and travel times on the map. This suggested walk is separate from your app movement record.

Before you set off

  • Check entry arrangements and return transport first.
  • Choose one stop to suit weather, slopes and local restrictions.
  • Respect private areas and photography rules; check food ingredients locally.
