Hi, I’m Tabi!

Shimanto Town is a separate municipality from neighbouring Shimanto City. Plan Iwamoto-ji in Kubokawa and the mountain-area Kaiyodo Hobby Museum as separate visits. The photograph records the temple grounds in June 2009, not current exhibitions or events.

This guide covers places within Shimanto Town, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

A first-visit stop

Iwamoto-ji

岩本寺

Temple 37 of the Shikoku pilgrimage offers a stop in Kubokawa. The June 2009 photograph shows trees and buildings in the grounds, not its well-known interior ceiling paintings. Respect worshippers and check indoor access and photography rules locally.

Getting there
Check the current approach and return transport on the map.

A first-visit stop

Kaiyodo Hobby Museum Shimanto

海洋堂ホビー館四万十

This model and figure museum occupies the former Utsuigawa elementary school gymnasium. Arrange onward transport from the station using current maps and services. Check exhibitions, hours and closure days, and follow rules for photographing and using images of artworks.

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

Niida-mai represents rice grown around Shimanto Town. Varieties and aromatic-rice blends can differ by producer and product; check packaging. Do not assume every bowl served in town is the same product, and ask about availability.

03 · YOUR FIRST WALK

Keep your first walk simple

Try the first destination’s permitted entrance → public areas. Choose the other stop after checking separate transport and access.

Check the walking route

Check actual distances and travel times on the map. This suggested walk is separate from your app movement record.

Before you set off

  • Check entry arrangements and return transport first.
  • Choose one stop to suit weather, slopes and local restrictions.
  • Respect private areas and photography rules; check food ingredients locally.
