Hi, I’m Tabi!

Discover Yuzawa in Akita through Oyasu Gorge and historic Inaniwa, distinct from Yuzawa in Niigata. The gorge photograph dates to late October 2016 and the slope car to April 2023; neither shows current foliage or operating status.

This guide covers places within Yuzawa, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

Two places to begin

Two different places: start with whichever interests you.

Oyasu Gorge on 29 October 201601

A first-visit stop

Oyasu Gorge and Daifunto

小安峡・大噴湯

Enjoy the gorge and geothermal setting. The photograph shows the gorge on 29 October 2016, not a close-up of a vent. Heavy rain or rising water can close the path, which also closes in winter. Ask the information centre before descending; respect closures and beware of steep steps and hot steam.

Getting there
Check the current approach and return transport on the map.

Inaniwa Castle access slope car in April 202302

A first-visit stop

Inaniwa Castle

稲庭城

This museum was built on part of the former castle site; it is not a surviving medieval keep. The photograph shows its access slope car in April 2023. Official opening is from mid-April to early November; check Tuesday closures, holiday substitutions and current slope-car operations.

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

Inaniwa udon is a signature Yuzawa food. City guidance also introduces facilities offering production visits or experiences. These are not offered by every restaurant, so check menus, opening days and any separate booking requirements.

03 · YOUR FIRST WALK

Keep your first walk simple

Try the first destination’s permitted entrance → public areas. Choose the other stop after checking separate transport and access.

Check the walking route

Check actual distances and travel times on the map. This suggested walk is separate from your app movement record.

Before you set off

  • Check entry arrangements and return transport first.
  • Choose one stop to suit weather, slopes and local restrictions.
  • Respect private areas and photography rules; check food ingredients locally.
