Hi, I’m Tabi!

Yamakita is a mountain town in western Kanagawa. Plan the waterfall near JR Gotemba Line Yamakita Station and the mountain lake as separate destinations. Check buses, return connections and current wildlife and access notices.

This guide covers places within Yamakita, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

01 · EXPLORE

Two places to begin

Two different places: start with whichever interests you.

A first-visit stop

Shasui Falls

洒水の滝

See a forest-framed waterfall from public paths. The photograph was uploaded in 2014. A new path opened in 2022; the plunge pool is off limits for safety.

Getting there
Check the current approach and return transport on the map.

Distant mountain view of Lake Tanzawa in November 201202

A first-visit stop

Lake Tanzawa

丹沢湖

A mountain reservoir created by Miho Dam. The November 2012 photo is a distant view from surrounding hills; an easy lakeside walk does not necessarily offer this same view.

Getting there
Check the current approach and return transport on the map.

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

The tourism association features Ashigara tea grown in the foothills. Check origin and processing labels; not all green tea is grown in Yamakita.

03 · YOUR FIRST WALK

Keep your first walk simple

Begin on the waterfall’s public path, staying away from the plunge pool. Arrange transport separately for the lake and check lakeside facilities and winter parking notices.

Check the walking route

Check actual distances and travel times on the map. This suggested walk is separate from your app movement record.

Before you set off

  • Check entry arrangements and return transport first.
  • Choose one stop to suit weather, slopes and local restrictions.
  • Respect private areas and photography rules; check food ingredients locally.
