Hi, I’m Tabi!

In Satsuma along the Sendai River, explore railway history and the shrine at Shibi. These stops are separated, so check driving routes or current bus services before combining them.

This guide covers places within Satsuma, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

Two places to begin

Two different places: start with whichever interests you.

A first-visit stop

Miyanojo Railway Memorial and Former Station Site

宮之城鉄道記念館・旧駅跡

Explore traces of the discontinued Miyanojo Line at its former station site. The photograph shows the outdoor area in 2012, not an operating railway station. Check opening days for the memorial’s interior and tourist information desk.

Getting there
Check the current approach and return transport on the map.

02

A first-visit stop

Shibi Shrine

紫尾神社

Visit the shrine in the Shibi district, taking care not to confuse it with the similarly named shrine at Takaono. Shrine visits and nearby bathing facilities are separate; check each bath’s operating arrangements.

Getting there

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

Look for foods made with locally produced bamboo shoots. Fresh shoots and processed products have different seasons; do not assume freshly dug shoots are available in October. Check what shops currently carry.

03 · YOUR FIRST WALK

Keep your first walk simple

Try the first destination’s permitted entrance → public areas. Choose the other stop after checking separate transport and access.

Check the walking route

Check actual distances and travel times on the map. This suggested walk is separate from your app movement record.

Before you set off

  • Check entry arrangements and return transport first.
  • Choose one stop to suit weather, slopes and local restrictions.
  • Respect private areas and photography rules; check food ingredients locally.
