Hi, I’m Tabi!

Akune in northwestern Kagoshima combines the Hisatsu Orange Railway with the East China Sea coast. Use the station as a starting point, checking train times and onward travel to the shore.

This guide covers places within Akune, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

A first-visit stop

Akune Station

にぎわい交流館 阿久根駅

A Hisatsu Orange Railway station and community meeting place, its building was renewed in 2014. The photograph was published in 2024. Check railway timetables and individual shop hours before using them.

02

A first-visit stop

Ushinohama Coast

牛之浜海岸

Look for offshore rocks and intricate layers along this coast. It is not directly in front of Akune Station, so check the route separately. Stay away from exposed edges and wet rocks when waves are high.

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

Akune’s bontan is a large citrus fruit, listed in official tourism information for November through March. Do not assume fresh fruit is available in October; ask about candied peel products and sales seasons.

03 · YOUR FIRST WALK

Keep your first walk simple

Try the first destination’s permitted entrance → public areas. Choose the other stop after checking separate transport and access.

Check the walking route

Check actual distances and travel times on the map. This suggested walk is separate from your app movement record.

Before you set off

  • Check entry arrangements and return transport first.
  • Choose one stop to suit weather, slopes and local restrictions.
  • Respect private areas and photography rules; check food ingredients locally.
