Hi, I’m Tabi!

In central Tanegashima, Nakatane offers Kumano Coast in the east and striking rock scenery in the west. Check transport between them and avoid planning an overnight stay at camping facilities closed for construction.

This guide covers places within Nakatane, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

Two different places: start with whichever interests you.

A first-visit stop

Kumano Coast Area

熊野海岸周辺

Mangroves grow near this coast; the photograph dates from 2010. The Recreation Village campground and log cabins are unavailable from September 1 to December 31, 2026, for construction, while the management building remains available. Check separate announcements for use from 2027 onward.

Getting there
Check the current approach and return transport on the map.

02

A first-visit stop

Otatsu–Metatsu Rocks

雄龍・雌龍の岩

These paired rocks stand off the coast at Nokan. The story that they are a couple reborn is a local legend. View them from a safe place without entering the roadway or scrambling onto rocks.

Getting there

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

Look for Anno sweet-potato sweets or chips and brown-sugar candy among the products introduced by the town. Stock varies by shop; Anno sweet potatoes are grown in several parts of the island.
