Hi, I’m Tabi!

Visit a space research facility and the ruins of Koyama Castle. The observatory’s public areas are subject to operational restrictions; check official notices first and plan the separate castle visit.

This guide covers places within Kimotsuki, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

Two places to begin

Two different places: start with whichever interests you.

A first-visit stop

Uchinoura Space Center

内之浦宇宙空間観測所

The photo shows the center from Eiseigaoka in 2015. The official October 2026 calendar suspends M Center visits and lists restrictions at Eiseigaoka viewpoint on October 19–22. Check current access and reception procedures for each facility, and enter only permitted areas.

Getting there
Check the current approach and return transport on the map.

Koyama Castle Ruins

高山城跡(こうやまじょうあと)

These are the ruins of a hilltop stronghold of the Kimotsuki family. The 2007 photo shows the castle hill from near the Honjo River, not a surviving keep. Check current trail conditions and access before setting out.

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

Hetsuka daidai is an aromatic citrus associated with the Hetsuka areas of Kimotsuki and Minamiosumi. Official tourism information also describes uses such as marmalade and syrup. Check origin, ingredients and availability.

03 · YOUR FIRST WALK

Keep your first walk simple

Try the first destination’s permitted entrance → public areas. Choose the other stop after checking separate transport and access.

Check the walking route

Check actual distances and travel times on the map. This suggested walk is separate from your app movement record.

Before you set off

  • Check entry arrangements and return transport first.
  • Choose one stop to suit weather, slopes and local restrictions.
  • Respect private areas and photography rules; check food ingredients locally.
