Hi, I’m Tabi!

Wetlands meet the Pacific in Hamanaka, eastern Hokkaido. Discover two distinct places: Biwase Observatory and Cape Kiritappu.

This guide covers places within Hamanaka, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

Cape Kiritappu

霧多布岬

Also called Cape Tofutsu, this headland offers dramatic coastal cliffs. The photograph shows fog in August 2009. Stay on paths, keep your distance from wildlife and follow the town’s request to avoid drone use.

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

Hamanaka’s farmed sea urchin is raised on local kelp. Check shipping seasons, availability and origin labels with sellers.

03 · YOUR FIRST WALK

Keep your first walk simple

Try the first destination’s permitted entrance → public areas. Choose the other stop after checking separate transport and access.

Check the walking route

Check actual distances and travel times on the map. This suggested walk is separate from your app movement record.

Before you set off

  • Check entry arrangements and return transport first.
  • Choose one stop to suit weather, slopes and local restrictions.
  • Respect private areas and photography rules; check food ingredients locally.
