Hi, I’m Tabi!

Hakodate is a port city in southern Hokkaido. Begin with Goryokaku’s fort history and the red-brick warehouses in the western waterfront area. Plan separate transport and distinguish JR Goryokaku Station from the Goryokaku-koen-mae tram stop.

This guide covers places within Hakodate, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

Goryokaku Park

五稜郭公園

Explore a star-shaped fort’s history and park scenery around its moat. The 2021 photo shows an entrance bridge and marker, rather than the whole star from above. Check park walking, magistrate-office and tower visits separately.

Getting there
Official guidance introduces tram and bus access from JR Hakodate Station. Check Goryokaku-koen-mae tram stop and the current walking approach to the park entrance.

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

Official tourism guidance introduces gagome senbei made with gagome kelp as a local souvenir. Check actual ingredients such as kelp, shrimp and wheat, allergens and availability; no particular shop or current price is guaranteed.

03 · YOUR FIRST WALK

Keep your first walk simple

Try the first destination’s permitted entrance → public areas. Choose the other stop after checking separate transport and access.

Check the walking route

Check actual distances and travel times on the map. This suggested walk is separate from your app movement record.

Before you set off

  • Check entry arrangements and return transport first.
  • Choose one stop to suit weather, slopes and local restrictions.
  • Respect private areas and photography rules; check food ingredients locally.
