Hi, I’m Tabi!

This Fukushima is the town in Matsumae district, southern Hokkaido, separate from Fukushima prefecture and city on Honshu. Explore tunnel construction and sumo history at two museums, planning transport separately.

This guide covers places within Fukushima, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

Two places to begin

Two different places: start with whichever interests you.

A first-visit stop

Fukushima Town Seikan Tunnel Museum

福島町青函トンネル記念館

Learn about Seikan Tunnel construction records and technology. The 2008 photo shows the exterior, rather than the tunnel interior. Distinguish this museum from train travel or tunnel experiences on the Aomori side, checking current entry and seasonal operations.

Getting there
Check current Hakodate Bus connections from Kikonai Station towards Matsumae and the Seikan Tunnel Kinenkan-mae stop in official guidance.

02

A first-visit stop

Chiyonoyama and Chiyonofuji Yokozuna Museum

横綱千代の山・千代の富士記念館

A museum introducing two local yokozuna and sumo culture. Check current displays, entry and photography arrangements; a museum visit does not guarantee seeing wrestlers training or competing.

Getting there
Check buses from Kikonai Station towards Matsumae and Fukushima stop, planning the museum-to-museum journey and return travel separately.

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

Tourism guidance introduces dried squid and other seafood products. Check origin, ingredients, seasoning, allergens and availability; no local catch for every item, particular shop, menu or price is guaranteed.

03 · YOUR FIRST WALK

Keep your first walk simple

Try the first destination’s permitted entrance → public areas. Choose the other stop after checking separate transport and access.

Check the walking route

Check actual distances and travel times on the map. This suggested walk is separate from your app movement record.

Before you set off

  • Check entry arrangements and return transport first.
  • Choose one stop to suit weather, slopes and local restrictions.
  • Respect private areas and photography rules; check food ingredients locally.
