Hi, I’m Tabi!

Midori offers river scenery and everyday heritage in Gunma. This guide focuses on Omama: choose a bridge view or an indoor museum suited to the weather.

This guide covers places within Midori, rather than places immediately beside your app check-in.

01 · EXPLORE

Three places to begin

Three places with different atmospheres. Start with the one that appeals to you instead of visiting them all.

A first-visit stop

Takatsudo Gorge

高津戸峡

A gorge along the Watarase River, photographed from Hanetaki Bridge in April 2015. The trail has steps; check weather and access and avoid unsafe riverbank descents.

Getting there
Check bridges and trail access from Omama station

02

A first-visit stop

Nagame Yokyojo Theater

ながめ余興場

A historic theater introducing performance culture. Interior sightseeing may be unavailable during events; distinguish attending a performance from touring the building.

Getting there
Check access within Nagame Park

03

A first-visit stop

Omama Museum

大間々博物館

The Conodont Museum uses a former bank building for nature, history and folk-life displays. Learn about tiny conodont fossils and local stories, checking current exhibitions separately.

Getting there
Check the museum route in central Omama

02 · A LITTLE BITE

What could you try?

Official local guidance introduces yakimanju: fermented-dough buns grilled with sauce. Consider them as a small snack after a walk, checking current availability and ingredients.

03 · YOUR FIRST WALK

Keep your first walk simple

Try Omama station → the Nagame Park area → a gorge view from a bridge. Choose stair trails only after checking conditions; add the museum as a separate indoor visit.

Check the walking route

Check actual distances and travel times on the map. This suggested walk is separate from your app movement record.

Before you set off

  • Check current entry rules, opening information and return transport.
  • Choose an outing suited to steps, slopes and weather.
  • Respect worship spaces and photography rules; check food ingredients at the shop.
